Setite
1 • Eyes of the Serpent (VPG)
The vampire may paralyze anyone with whom she makes eye contact, for as long as eye contact is maintained. When the vampire first learns this power, her eyes change into those of a serpent. This is considered a permanent change.
2 • Tongue of the Serpent (VPG)
The vampire may change her tongue into that of a serpent, being about eighteen inches long and forked. This tongue can be used to inflict aggravated damage, or to drink blood. This should be considered equivalent to the Kiss, including the pleasure caused in those on whom it is used.
3 • The Skin of the Adder (VPG)
By calling upon her Blood, the vampire may transform her skin into a mottled, scaly hide. A vampire in this form becomes more supple and flexible. Costs two blood points. Makes it easier to soak damage from claws and fangs but not from fire or sunlight or other magical energies. The vampire's mouth widens and fangs lengthen, enabling her bite to do more damage. The vampire's Appearance drops to 0, and she is obviously inhumane though casual passerbys may not notice if the vampire is in darkness or wearing heavy clothing.
4 • Form of the Serpent (VPG)
By paying one blood point over three posts, the vampire can transform into a black, poisonous cobra, of about six feet in length. This may also be done by paying three blood over one post, if the vampire’s generation allows it. In this state, the sense of smell of the character is doubled while hearing ability is halved.
5 • Heart of Darkness (VPG)
The vampire may remove her heart on the new moon, and put it in a clay urn. She may even do this to another vampire, though this takes several hours. For the vampire to whom this is done, it reduces frenzy chances by 50% and makes her unstakeable. If the heart is destroyed, she will die horribly. If the heart is staked, she will enter torpor. This power is automatic and may cause mortal onlookers (and possibly even vampiric ones) to violently expectorate recent meals.
6 • Cobra Fangs (Cbk Set Rev)
A character using Form of the Cobra (Serpent) gains a venoumous bite along with his serpentine form. Unfortunately, huge black cobras make people run as fast as they can. This Serpentis power enables a Setite to gain the deadly bite without the full-body transformation, making it more useful for taking victims by surprise. The police do ask questions when someone dies from a cobra bite under unlikely circumstances, so Cobra Fangs still requires some discretion in its use.
6 • Obsession (VPG)
By describing her victim’s lusts to her, the vampire may cause a victim to be obsessed with something. The victim will try to fulfill her lusts nightly, and may frenzy if unsatisfied. This should be treated as a derangement, and may be overcome as such.
6 • Temptation (VPG)
By describing her victim’s weaknesses to her, the vampire may encourage a victim to behave in a corrupt and decadent fashion, even if she may lose Humanity as a result. This should be treated as a derangement, and may be overcome as such.
7 • Divine Image (Cbk Set Rev)
Many of the low-generation Setite elders no longer need the illusions of Obfuscate to appear as a god. A Setite can physically metamorphose into the form of a god. Male Followers of Set generally take on the form of Set himself: a muscular man with the head of the ''Typhonic Beast'', an animal with a long, narrow snout and upstanding, square-topped ears. Less often, they take the form of the crocodile-headed god Sobek or the wolf-headed war-god Wepwawet. Female Setites generally assume the form of the cobra-headed goddess Renenet, wife of Sobek, or the hippotamus-goddess Taweret, sometimes considered a consort of Set. While assuming the Divine Image, the vampire becomes stronger, tougher and more impressive. More importantly, perhaps, the Setite's will becomes more powerful as he identifies with a divine forebear. Takes 3 bloodpoints and transform into the Divine Image in one post. Lasts one page.
7 • Phobia (VPG)
By describing her victim’s fears to her, the vampire may give a victim a phobia, which may be of anything. To remain in the vicinity of the object of her phobia, the victim must stay as far away as possible from it and may suffer rotshreck if they are forced to touch it. This should be treated as a derangement, and may be overcome as such.
8 • Corruption (VPG)
By touching her victim, the vampire may corrupt the victim, instilling a fondness for the Beast, and feelings of sadism. The victim loses willpower over time, and at after 15 posts falls into a psychotic rage. She will also remember, and try to relive, her most bestial moments. Victims in Golconda are not affected.
8 • Heart Thief (Cbk Set Rev)
Heart of Darkness normally takes hours to perform upon other vampires, and only works at the dark of the moon. Some Setite elders, however, can pull the heart from another vampire's chest with a quick snatch of the hand. This does not destroy the vampire...unless the Setite then destroys the stolen heart. Heart Thief is not an easy power to use despite its speed, but few Discipine effects can place one vampire in another's power so suddenly and completely. The character must expend one Willpower point. Removing the heart of a reluctant vampire is a difficult feat. The victim can use Fortitude to soak the attacker's successes.
A vampire who loses his heart takes one unsoakable level of aggravated damage, and receives all the benefits and problems of the Heart of Darkness power. Resisting frenzy becomes easier and he cannot be staked. On the other other hand, thrusting a stake through the removed heart will instantly force the vampire into torpor and exposing the heart to fire or sunlight will cause aggravated wounds to the vampire in question.
9 • Form of Corruption (VPG)
An inanimate object may be infused with the power Corruption, as detailed above, but the vampire automatically loses one Humanity for committing this act. Such an object affects anyone it touches who would normally be subject to this power.
9 • Shadow of Apep (Cbk Set Rev)
Only Set and Set's own childer can perform this terrifying power. These ancient monsters can take the form of Set's defeated enemy, Apep. The vampire becomes a giant serpent of fluid, glittering Darkness--not merely shadow, but anti-light, like the black force commanded by Obtenebration. In this form, physical forces cannot harm the vampire: not claws, fangs, bullets, explosives, not anything except fire, sunlight or magic. Physical barriers cannot easily stop the vampire, whose shadowy form can seep through even the tiniest crack. The vampire, however, can still exert physical and supernature force quite freely. Costs one blood point and lasts for one page (following transformation, so not until the end of the page after you transformed will it stop working). Transformation takes 3 posts to complete. The vampire can also employ any Discipline that does not require hands.
10 • Mark of Damnation (VPG)
By touching the forehead of her victim, the vampire may disfigure a target so horribly that all characters who see her will attack her on sight unless they are good friends with them. This may be cured only by powerful rituals, or the consent of the vampire.
